Important News and Stuff! - Hi everyone. Uh, we need to talk.

Special Level is almost done. It's been about three years of work for me, and it's been my most personal work to date - all of these characters (probably even the creepy wizard, maybe not the blood monkey) are refracted versions of me.

Maybe that's why this comic was so hard to do. Maybe it was the more ambitious art style, but the process has hardly been easy. I've had long hiatuses, I've dropped to a single update a week, I've missed updates altogether with no warning...basically, I just want to say thank you for sticking with me. It look a lot of effort to get to the end of this, and while I'm proud of Special Level, I'm fairly glad to be nearing the end.

I had considered continuing the comic for another chapter or series or whatever, because I do enjoy the characters, but to be honest - and I think you'll agree - they've never been as stand-out unique as Runt and Candy. Almost as soon as I put down our favourite warring duo I wanted to pick them up and play with them again.

A few weeks ago we saw their birthday strip. I think I'd like that to be my next comic project: a return to simple, three-panel sci-fi fantasy adventures. But in order to do so, I need your help.

The major thing that's stopped me from already working on Runt and Candy's adventure in earnest is a lack of finances. I want to buy a domain name, possibly some fancy hosting to get rid of Smackjeeves ads. But it's the final semester of my university degree, and I am officially broke. I can't even afford the £10/$15 it'd take to buy a domain for a year.

Almost completely (but not entirely unrelated): the Totally Kotor book. After struggling with it over several...well, YEARS, last night I put a quick burst into making some final edits and it's ready. I wasn't happy with my attempt at getting it printed (after the proof copy was over 6 months late), but since I started work on the project, the tablet iPad Surface thing kinda happened...so I'm offering it to you digitally. For free. My gift to you.

What do you get?
All Totally Kotor strips, entirely digitally remastered in a Special Edition pdf. "Digitally remastered?" you've asked. Yes. Digitally remastered. My art saw a lot of growth over the time I was working on Totally Kotor, and only at about strip #300 did I start using backgrounds. Well now all the comics have backgrounds. I've recreated those old files that I'd lost - but done so while sticking as close to the originals as possible, so that you can see the slow evolution of my art, squished down into a book you can read in an hour or so.

Later this week I'm going to make the book available in a Print-On-Demand bookshop as well, so that those who are desperate for a hard copy can order one, but you do so at your own risk: I can't guarantee the quality because frankly, I'm converted to buying comics on my iPad instead. Dangit!

The pdf is available for a free download, but there's an option to pay as much money as you like. I'd really appreciate any and all donations that come my way, even if it's only for a few dollars/sterling/whatever. If I can scrape together £10, I can buy the domain and start more Runt and Candy adventures (NOT the name of the comic). If I get £50, I can buy nice hosting for a year and make an amazing website. If I get £200 I can ensure that I'll be able to keep making Runt and Candy comics for many, many years.

I am so grateful for all the support you've given me over the years. Eventually, I'm going to offer a Special Level pdf for a similar deal (although I may have to charge a base few $ for that one). But Totally Kotor is my gift to you, because without trying to sound corny, I love you.

TLDR? Download the Totally Kotor book by clicking here.

Awesome! Thanks so much for doing this for your loyal fans! Although I have to say I really enjoyed Special Level, too, and I love the great plot twists you've thrown.
